Science and Skepticism Outreach

In a world with science denialism and conspiracy theory run rampant, it has never been more important for the scientific community to engage with the public. By engaging with non traditional public science and investigation communities, I hope to better understand why some scientific ideas are accepted by them while others refuted, and similarly how misinformation and irrationalism spread. At the same time, understanding that these communities are populated with real people, who have often had a frightening or upsetting experience which caused them to search for answers elsewhere when science or medicine could not help is of vital importance.
